I hope you’re all having a great start to the summer now that we’re officially in it! For many of you, it’s a time to get in a well-deserved break. If that’s you – enjoy!
For our part, we know this downtime for many of our customers is a great time to make some updates so that when you return in the fall, you’re coming back to an even better experience with CourseStorm!
With that in mind, we’re very pleased to announce a new feature that we think will make your lives a ton easier!
As many of you may know, we keep a list of feature requests here at CourseStorm called the Ballot Box. Whenever we receive a request, we look down the list to see if anyone else has asked for it before. If the request is there, we cast your vote for that possible new feature. When we look to make updates throughout the year, we check up on this list and prioritize those requests that prove to be the most popular.
Today, we’re very excited that we’ve added the most-requested feature right into CourseStorm — student fields!
We’ve heard from many of you that you’d love to be able to collect just a little bit more information about each student who registers for your classes. Up to this point, one of the tricky parts has been that everyone was interested in something just a bit different. Some programs are interested in knowing the gender of their students, others a birthdate, and still others something else.
So, we went to the drawing board and have designed a way for each program to define what info they’d like to collect just for their program. So if you’re interested in letting a person opt-in to mailings or find out how they heard about your program – you can do so starting today.
How does it work?
This part is pretty simple. Just tell us what you’d like on your form and we’ll add it for you. All we need to know is what questions you’d like to ask, what some possible options might be (or if you’d like to leave it open-ended), and if you want the fields to be optional. Email this over to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll take care of the rest.
One thing we recommend keeping in mind, however, is that the more fields added to a form, the more people end up leaving before completing their registration. So it’s always a good idea to keep it brief.
Best of all, these fields are automatically included in student exports, so you won’t have to root around for the info — it’s right where you’ll expect to find it.
We hope you love this feature as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you. If you have any questions at all feel free to email us at email@example.com and we’ll get right back to you.
Thanks everyone — enjoy the start to your summer!Previous Next
