Coming This Year: Text Message Reminders
Everyone here at CourseStorm hopes you had a great October! The team here has been hard at work launching new features and updates and we plan to continue that habit with another feature launch before the end of the year.
Text Message Reminders
It’s no secret that for years now, folks have been relying more and more on their mobile phones as their primary means of communication. Email is great, but nothing beats a nice, short text message for a quick notification.
So it gives me great pleasure to let you know that before the end of the year, we’ll be releasing automated, text message reminders for students!
How does it work?
In the past, one of the hassles with adding text message capabilities to any application has been that those receiving the text messages needed to designate their phone number as “mobile” in order for the system to know what numbers to text. Thanks to modern technology, however, we can now handle this for you, automatically looking up a phone number to determine if it can receive text messages or not.
The result is simplicity for you and your students – if the feature is enabled and your student or parent has entered a phone number capable of text messaging, they’ll automatically receive reminders for classes alongside their email notifications without having to make any changes to their profile. So, even if they’re away from their inbox for a bit, they’ll be sure to still receive that important reminder to prepare for class in the next couple of days!
Availability
Text message reminders will be available to all CourseStorm customers later this year.
For existing customers, the feature will be off by default, giving you full control over when and how CourseStorm communicates with your students. To turn the feature on, you’ll just check a box in your CourseStorm settings.
When the feature launches, all new customers just getting started with CourseStorm will have it enabled by default allowing you to take advantage of this great new feature without having to enable it. But if you’d like to disable it for any reason, just go to your CourseStorm settings page and flip the switch!
