Using CourseStorm, a community health program integrated and smoothed out its class signup process and substantially grew its revenue.

The Background

The MaineHealth Learning Resource Center (LRC) believes that figuring out how to be healthy shouldn’t be hard. Its staff of health educators develops and carries out strategies to improve the health of individuals and communities. Creating, coordinating and offering health education programs; providing resources and information to promote healthy living and prevent disease; and connecting people to credible resources are the staff’s primary tasks.

The center also holds a large number of classes on a regular basis from healthy eating to maternity workshops to cancer treatment education, offered at multiple locations in the MaineHealth system. Keeping on top of registrations and registrants was a constant and time-consuming challenge for staff.

The Challenge

Through experiences with other registration systems, MaineHealth LRC staff had strong opinions about what they didn’t want. The tool they were using was not well designed for their needs and parallel processes were cobbled together into a cumbersome system. The system also didn’t integrate with their website, furthering the complications.

MaineHealth needed something streamlined that could track scholarships, accept both checks and credit cards, and would reduce the number of calls focused on course registration.

The Solution

After reviewing a number of other options, CourseStorm was selected as MaineHealth LRC’s registration solution.

Offering a user-friendly, online interface for both registrants and administrators, it provided a smooth, user-friendly experience. It integrated with the MaineHealth Learning Resource Center website in a way that was attractive and easy to navigate. In addition, its affordable price included 24-7 access to CourseStorm’s helpful and friendly support staff.

Compared to the previous solutions we have used and reviewed, CourseStorm is a steal.  There was no better value for a solution that would be so simple to use. We are a picky group to work with. We’ve always felt incredibly listened to. You guys are rare in the industry.”

The Results

MaineHealth LRC found using CourseStorm helped its health educators focus on their mission of health education outreach rather than constantly tending a bulky registration system.

Its students found the mobile-friendly system user-friendly and CourseStorm increased the staff’s efficiency by automating many tasks and reducing registration-related phone calls, even as registration numbers rapidly increased.

Thanks to the simplicity of registering online, the tight integration with our website, and the ease of managing our online catalog, we’ve been able to save money and spend less time managing our site and more time growing our program.

After only the first six months of using CourseStorm, we processed almost as much revenue in registrations as the past two years combined.”

MaineHealth Learning Resource Center has continued to reach more learners and increase its revenue, meeting its mission and making sure that Mainers have easy access to information on better health every day.
