Happy April everyone! The snow is finally melting up here in Maine and our team is excited to kick off another quarter with plans for some great new updates heading your way!

Today, I’d love to give you an update on a new student transfer system we’re working on that will give you an even easier way to transfer students between classes in CourseStorm.

As you know, we have a design goal to make your life with registration impossibly simple regardless of the complexities of the task at hand. That’s why we’ve designed simple tools to help you manage payment processing, refunding, automated payment plans, customized registration forms, class types, price-adjusting options, and more. These features are handy, but what has made them truly great has been when we’ve been able to marry their advanced capabilities with our trademark simplicity, saving you time that you can spend on more interesting pursuits!

One area where we’ve been lacking in power + simplicity, however, is with our student transfer system. The reason being that these powerful registration features like payment plans, customized registration forms, and price adjusting options can make transfers between classes more complex. If you go down the rabbit hole, you can find yourself with a transfer that involves classes with completely different registration forms, prices, payment plan choices, price-adjusting options, promo code availability, and more.

So, until now, we’ve only supported what we call “simple transfers” – transfers between classes of the same price and type. Going this route allowed us to unlock the ability to transfer students without having to wait until we’ve tackled the hard design challenges for the most complex of situations. And, while that’s been helpful, we’ve also heard from you that it’s not enough and that you really need the ability to transfer universally between any class in CourseStorm – no asterisks! We’ve heard you and we’re on it!

To that end, in the coming months, we’re going to be launching a new Universal Transfers beta. For those of you who join our waiting list, this beta will provide you with access to more advanced transfer features that build on top of one another, adding more sophistication over time.

To start, for those in the beta, we’ll be introducing a brand new UI for transfers that makes your existing simple transfers even more streamlined and sets a foundation for the next iterations to come. From there, we will continually roll out more advanced capabilities to support more complex scenarios until we ultimately provide completely Universal Transfers throughout the system.

If you find yourself in a situation where more advanced transfers would be helpful to streamline your operations, please email me to join the waiting list for our Universal Transfers beta program and we’ll be excited to share with you the updates we’ll be rolling out for this feature over the coming months.

As always, thanks for all your fantastic feedback and support – we can’t wait to add this great new capability to your toolkit!
