Since our last update, our team has been hard at work and last week we released a handful of features that we think will make your day-to-day use of CourseStorm even better!
Waiting Lists
We’re privileged to work with a fantastic set of customers. Customers excited about education and the learning opportunities located right in the community. In fact, many of these opportunities are so good that the classes will fill up in no time! With popular classes like these, we have an automatic Waiting List feature built right into CourseStorm, letting each student express interest in a course even if it’s full in the hopes that they can get in if a seat opens up or a new session is added.
And last week we added some great new features that will make your job of maintaining your waiting lists even easier.
“Which of my classes have waiting lists?”
Since the beginning of our waiting list feature, we’ve always sent emails to you when you receive a new entry for a class. That said, if you get a lot of these, it can be hard to track at-a-glance exactly which classes have waiting lists and how many people are on it. The simple answer was to create a new column on the Classes list with this info, allowing you to sort and immediately see your most popular classes. The trouble is, we felt that the list looked a bit crowded with this new column — not to mention how crowded the list would look with some other columns we were hoping to add.
So, we went to the drawing board and found a way to let you decide which columns you’d like to see on your class list. All you have to do is click the new “cog” icon in the top left of the list. Now, you’ll get a nice menu letting you turn on and off whatever columns you like.
Better yet – the choices you make are saved just for you, so that the next time you look at the list, the system will know exactly what you like to see.
Email the Waiting List
So, let’s say you have a popular class and are going to open up a few seats to the waiting list. What next? Well, before we had done the revisions, you’d need to contact each person on the waiting list individually to let them know about the new space. But that always felt to us like sort of a pain. So, starting last week, we made it so that you can email the entire list right in CourseStorm with the click of a button.
Just like emailing everyone on the Roster, you now have a new Send Email button right on the waiting list screen. Click this and send an email out to everyone informing them that a new spot opened up!
Convert to Registration
But what if you already know who you’d like to let in? We’ve made that simple, too. Now, from the waiting list entry, you’ll see a new button called Convert to Registration. With a simple click, CourseStorm will prepare a new registration for this person. All you need then is payment information and they’re in the class. It’s that simple.
